Bringing Wisdom to the Next Generation
Hi! I am the creator of the Waldorf Connection tele-seminars. But, I am also a homeschooling mom of twin girls. Here is my story and how this was all created.
I tried for over 5 years to get pregnant, so when my twins finally came along, I had to do it all “right” And, I am also a perfectionist (or at least, I drive myself crazy trying to be) . I read books and more books..and got advice. You know the drill. I had the idea to homeschool and as my girls were nearing 3, I talked to my husband about it. We decided to give it a try. I looked through curriculums, but didn’t find what I needed. Then while reading “Under the Chinaberry Tree “ I heard mention of Waldorf Education. I researched the method and Steiner and I was hooked! O.k., so now what do I do?! This was over 3 years ago and their wasn't much to choose from in Waldorf homeschool curriculum! I downloaded a few things. Bought “You are your child’s first teacher” and I was on my way.
I struggled to understand what “circle time” was. Forget the “wet-on-wet” painting! I bought a few colored silks and we danced around and sang a few songs. I was very thankful my girls were only 4 and I knew this was the play should be.
As time went by, more resources became available. I found some online yahoo groups for support and put together an eclectic Waldorf plan that fit my lifestyle. But, each “rung” up the Waldorf learning curve seemed steeper. Now, we started First Grade- the real stuff! If only there would be a way to have some training and Q & A on some of these things I can’t wrap my mind around. Most Waldorf conferences are held across the country from me, so were not feasible. What if we could do this over the Internet and bring the information to a lot of people at once?! Well.. we did.. The Waldorf Connection was created!
